The Ferry Masterclass ⛴️
This is where most travelers get confused. There are two ferry operators and two jetties. Here is the breakdown.
Operator 1: Bluewater Ferry
The Standard Choice. Big white ferries. They run frequently but stops at every village (Genting, Paya, Tekek, Salang, Juara).
Pros: Frequent schedule.
Cons: Can be crowded; seats are free-seating.
Operator 2: Cataferry
The Premium Choice. Newer catamarans with assigned seating.
Pros: Faster, cleaner, more stable in rough seas.
Cons: Slightly more expensive; fewer daily trips.
- Marine Park Fee: RM30 (Foreigner) / RM5 (Malaysian). Pay at Jetty.
- Tourism Tax: RM10 per room/night (Foreigners only). Pay at Resort.
How Much Cash to Bring? 💰
There are NO ATMs in Kampung Genting. The nearest ATM is in Tekek (a water taxi ride away). While TDB Tioman Resort accepts DuitNow/Credit Cards, small shops only take cash.
